At Cornerstone Animal Hospital, our team is here to ensure that your new puppy receives it everything he or she needs to have a healthy start. It is important to bring your new puppy in for a wellness exam as soon as possible to establish good health. Premature and young puppies are especially likely to experience medical issues, as their immune system is not yet fully developed and may be more susceptible to illness.

Vaccination Plans

At Cornerstone Animal Hospital, we believe that creating a customized vaccination schedule tailored specifically to your pet maximizes the protection against any diseases he or she is most likely to be exposed to. There are many diseases that are preventable through the judicious use of vaccines, so it is important to create an individualized protocol early in life to protect both your puppy and your family.

Microchipping Your Puppy

Just like vaccines protect your puppy against illness and disease, a microchip helps keep your puppy safe if they are lost. The unique identifier in your puppy’s microchip will help bring them home safely, providing shelters and animal hospitals with your contact information to reunite you with your puppy.

Preparing for the Exam

For your puppy’s first visit, we request that you bring the following:

• Your puppy on a leash or in a dog carrier
• All paperwork pertaining to the previous care of your puppy including all previous immunizations, deworming, medications and any veterinary records you may have
• Any questions you may have regarding your puppy’s health or behavior
